20 January until further notice :

The road is blocked between Whaley Bridge & Rainow. Bus services 60 & 60A will run in 2 sections up to the closure area.

Saturday 26th April

A section of Waterside in Hadfield will be under traffic management, to assist in a gas supply upgrade.

Trains - 18-21 April & 2-23 August. >>Local roads permanently closed during the works (12 months / April 2026)<<.

Stockport Railway station and the roads directly south will be closed. This is to facilitate the removal and rebuild of the Greek Str/Mercian Way roundabout, whose bridge supports are now failing and causing danger to the railway.

Through services will mainly be diverted, with trains south operating via Heald Green & Wilmslow, and trains east operating via Romiley. Buxton trains will run to/from Hazel Grove and Chester trains will run to/from Altrincham. All remaining services from Piccadilly will be on a slightly different schedule to accommodate the diverted trains.

Local buses are diverted. Visit Stockport Interchange for leaflets, or information is available online via the TfGM website.

14 June. Tour of Tameside.

Padfield Main Rd will be filled with vehicles & people around this event. Although the road will not be officially closed, please do not use it as a through route. Service 393 may be delayed or diverted.
